Being in a society that promotes unrealistic body standards, it’s hard not to get caught up in comparing yourself to models. Plus size fashion designer, Monica Herra has finally had enough of this social stigma. Being on the heavier side all her life, she struggled to find the perfect pair of jeans. Even if they came in her size, she would be too embarrassed to ask, because she couldn’t handle all the stares and judgements from strangers. Realizing that she’s also a victim of fat shaming, she was determined to fix this negative connotation surrounding jeans.
“Clothing companies should consider that not everyone has the same body shape. There are many more different body shapes in this world than just plain skinny. Regardless, everyone should still feel comfortable in their own skin. To me, clothes should fit us as we are, and not the other way around.” – Monica Herra
